OVERVIEW
This project is aimed to create a flight information display system (FIDS) screen to communicate flight information in real-time to passengers using the app.
RESEARCH & SKETCHING
Starting this project, the goal was to focus on the perspective of a passenger. What is the most important information and what needs to be seen first when scrolling through the app? Other flight apps and websites provided inspiration to determine a rough idea of how the app would be laid out.

ITERATIONS & EXPLORING COLORS
Below were a few of the first iterations in the beginning of the design process. The colors chosen were used to help passengers understand the app and represent the flight status. Each flight has a drop down arrow that expands down with more information about the flight such as the flight number, airline, and gate number.
What worked:
-   "arrivals" & "departures" buttons
-   airport information on home page
-   switching from arrivals & departures page
-   drop down arrows
What didn't:
-   layout of home page
-   color choice made legibility difficult
-   chosen graphics
-   hierarchy within drop down cells
Revised Iterations & COLORS
The original typeface chosen was Altivo and Krungthep for a playful look. Green and orange were chosen because they are said to make a bold statement without looking overwhelming. For the final screens, "Altivo" was chosen because of the various weights available. There are eight different options for weight as well as italicized options. The navy created a nice contrast and can be read both indoors and outdoors.
FINAL SCREENS
After many trials and errors and determining the problems, the final screens were developed. They were simplified and the hierarchy was revised in the individual cells as well as the drop down information. The different weights allow the most important information to be seen first which is especially important if the passenger is rushed.
